Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Retirement Harley Davidson up for Auction

by Boss Hawg on December 10, 2008

For those of you that did not know, Scott M. Coles, Chairman of Mortgages, Ltd., committed suicide June 2.  Coles lead a very lavish and flamboyant lifestyle and was the recipient of a Harley Davidson custom motorcycle that was owned by NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.  The motorcycle will be auctioned by Higginbotham Auctioneers with an estimated value between $30,000 and $50,000.  The Harley Davidson motorcycle was a gift to Coles in 1989 when Kareem retired.

The auction will be open for public view Monday and will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16.  “John Nuccio, spokesman for Higgenbotham Auctioneers International of Lakeland, Florida, said the more than 700 items being auctioned are estimated to have a value of more than $2.5 million and includes the custom Harley Davidson motorcycle, valuable artwork, furnishings and sports memorabilia.” For $100.00 potential bidders can attend a preview of the auction from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.

This eclectic collection has a range of interest and disciplines that is just astounding, Higgenbotham said.  After a half century in the auction business you would think I’d have seen everything, but then along comes the Scott M. Coles Estate.
